A Wayward Word
Freelance Writer

Bio
Behind the Words
My name is Kim and I am a freelance writer. I specialise in biography and memoir, non-fiction and creative non-fiction, and I also write fiction for my own entertainment. In my spare time, I like reading, listening to music, watching Dr Who and spending time with my cats. I also enjoy watching my son play roller hockey in the English Premier League.
I'm passionate about my work and am blessed earn a living from something I enjoy so much. I have a fantastic family and friends around me who support what I do, and understand the times where I need to withdraw from being sociable and concentrate completely on my writing! I have limited availability for ghostwriting projects at the moment, but am always happy to discuss any projects that you have in mind.
What is a Ghostwriter?
A ghostwriter is simply a person whose job it is to write material for their client, who will be named as the author on the final project. People choose to hire ghostwriters for a number of reasons, the most usual being lack of time or lack of confidence in their own writing ability. Ghostwriters work in all genres, but I specialise in biography and memoir, which are two of the most popular. I also enjoy writing in other genres such as non-fiction, creative non-fiction and expository (explanatory or informative) texts, to keep my workload varied and interesting!
I'm self-employed and therefore work on a freelance basis. I find work through online platforms such as Upwork (https://www.upwork.com) where writers can bid on work offered by potential clients by submitting proposals, and the client then chooses whomever they deem to be the best fit for their project. I also write for an amazing company called Lifebook Memoirs UK (https://lifebookmemoirs.com/en-gb/). My role as a LifeBook ghostwriter is to listen to a series of recorded audio interviews and craft them into a high-quality autobiography. I pride myself on being able to replicate the tone and voice of the author whilst maintaining flow and literary integrity. My work is then sent off for editing and after a series of around 12 interviews, the author is presented with their life story in the form of a gorgeous book.
