The Creative Writing Circle

A regular gathering for writing and wellbeing

The Creative Writing Circle is an ongoing group that meets weekly in person for the simple pleasure of writing together. It isn't a course with an end date or a box to tick off. It's a standing invitation — a regular space where writing happens, unhurried and in good company.

A gentle rhythm

Every gathering has the same easy shape. We settle first, letting the day fall away. Then a warm-up prompt or two — something to notice, something to try — and time to write, properly, without anyone reading over your shoulder. If you'd like to share what you've written aloud, you're warmly welcome to. If you'd rather keep it to yourself, that's welcome too. Nothing here is compulsory, and even the writing can be as quiet or as bold as you please.

Who it's for

You don't need to arrive calling yourself a writer. The Circle is for adults at any stage — those returning to the page after years away, those who've never quite given themselves permission to begin, and those who write all the time and simply want the company of others who do. Bring a notebook (or laptop) and a little curiosity; that's all it asks of you.

Where craft and wellbeing meet

This is the place the two sides of my work come together, quite naturally. You'll grow as a writer — trying new forms, stretching different muscles, feeling your voice grow surer over the weeks. And you'll notice the other thing writing quietly does: how it steadies you, clears a little space, helps you hear yourself think. Neither is the main event. They tend to arrive together.

Why a Circle, not a class

There's a reason it's called a Circle. Meeting regularly, among familiar faces, lets something build that a single workshop never can — a shared trust, an ease on the page, a body of your own work growing steadily over time. The Circle keeps its shape, and there's always a seat for you.

Come and write with us. Bring what you have, and leave with a little more.
